Notification Setting Options
Reference
Three of the settings you change in your profile take one value from a list, and this is what each value does.
Email Frequency
How often the wiki mails you the events you subscribed to. The default is "Daily", and a period in which nothing happened produces no mail at all.
| Option | When a mail is sent | What it carries |
|---|---|---|
| Hourly | Every hour | The events recorded since the hourly sending last ran |
| Daily | Every day | The events recorded since the daily sending last ran |
| Weekly | Every week | The events recorded since the weekly sending last ran |
| Live | A few minutes after an event | That event, together with any other event of yours that arrives while the wiki waits |
The three periodic sendings run by default on the hour, at midnight and on Monday at midnight. An administrator changes those times, and the wait before a live mail, for everybody, as described in Notification Configuration Properties.
Details of the Changes
How much of each change the mail carries. The default is "Standard".
| Option | What the mail shows |
|---|---|
| Standard | The diff of each page concerned and, where one notification stands for several events, a table listing each of them with its author and date |
| Nothing | Neither of those, and a "See details" link to the changes in the wiki instead |

Automatic Page Watching
Whether the pages you work on are watched for you, in the sense Watched Entities describes. The default is "Every time I make a major modification".
| Option | What gets watched for you |
|---|---|
| Never | Nothing, so you only receive what you chose to watch yourself |
| Every time I make a modification | Every page you save |
| Every time I make a major modification | Every page you save without ticking "Minor edit" |
| Only when I create a new page | Only the pages you create |
Whichever value you choose, it watches the page itself and not the pages below it, it never watches your own profile, and it ignores the changes made inside a larger operation such as an import or a page move.
FAQ
I changed my frequency. When does the next mail arrive?
At the next run of the sending you switched to, which covers everything recorded since that sending last ran, so the first one can span more than you expect.
Can I stop the mails without losing the notifications menu?
Yes. There is no "never" frequency, but switching an application OFF in the "Email" column leaves it ON for the menu.
Does automatic page watching cover the pages I only read?
No, only the ones you save.
