Set the Default Language for a Page when Editing

Steps

To set the default language for the current Page when editing with the Wiki editor or with the WYSIWYG Standalone editor:

  1. Select the content language you want to use, by using the "Default Language" section inside the "Page Information" Panel.

  2. Save the modifications (or discard them) using the Realtime Edit Actions.

FAQ

Why am I not seeing the "Default Language" section in the Panel?

  • It's probably because your administrator hasn't set up your wiki to be multilingual.
  • It could be because you're viewing a translation and not the Original content (Default Page Content) of the Page.

Why are they called "Languages" when editing, and "Locales" when viewing the Page?

There were some inconsistencies in the UI, but XWiki 17.8.0+, 17.4.5+, 16.10.12+  the UI displays "Language" in the "Information" tab.
