Steps
Creating a group needs the Admin right on the wiki.
- Open the wiki administration and go to "Users & Rights" > "Groups".
- Click "Create group", below the list of groups:
- Type the name of the new group in the "Group Name" field, then click "Create":
- The group is now in the list, with no members yet and ready for you to add them:
FAQ
Can two groups share a name?
No, and the dialog says so as you type, keeping its "Create" button disabled. Any Page of the XWiki space already carrying that name blocks it, whether that Page is a group or not.
What can the members of a new group do?
Nothing they could not do before. A group grants no right on its own; give the right to the group through Rights and every member receives it.
Is the person who creates a group a member of it?
No. Its creator joins it like anyone else, by being added as a member.
