Copying, deleting, and moving/renaming  a Page are refactoring actions that you can perform on a Page.

Asynchronous Operations

Copy, delete, and move/rename operations are asynchronous. This means they run in the background, allowing you to continue using the wiki without waiting for the operation to complete. A progress page reports how far the operation has got, and the operation keeps running on the server even if you leave that page.

Interactive Operations

Delete and move/rename operations are also interactive. During execution, the system may require input from the user, for example when the Page you delete holds a Class that is used elsewhere, when it belongs to an installed extension, or when a move/rename would overwrite an existing Page. The question is displayed on the progress page and the operation cannot continue until an answer is provided. Thus, do not close the browser window while the operation is still in progress and make sure to answer the questions that are asked by the operation, if any.

The copy operation is not interactive: when a Page already exists at the destination, the confirmation is requested in the copy form, before the operation starts.

What happens if I close the browser window while an operation is running?

The operation continues to run on the server. Only the questions it may ask are affected: a question that gets no answer expires after a few minutes and the operation is then cancelled, except for the question asked when a move/rename is about to overwrite an existing Page, which waits until it is answered and keeps its lock on the Page tree meanwhile.
