Explanation

The Icon Macro displays an icon in the content of a page, taken from the Icon Theme the wiki uses. An icon makes an interface element recognizable at a glance, and it lets a page point at the exact button its reader has to click.

The editor decides how the icon gets there:

• Add an Icon Using the WYSIWYG Editor picks it from the list of icon names, with no syntax to type.
• Add an Icon Using the Wiki Editor types the macro, which is quicker once the name of the icon is known.

Both write the same macro call, and The displayIcon Macro documents its parameters: the icon to display, the Icon Theme to take it from, and what happens when that icon does not exist.

FAQ

Why do the icons of a page change when the wiki is reconfigured?

An icon is stored by name, not as an image, so it is drawn by whichever Icon Theme the wiki uses. Changing the theme redraws every icon added with the macro.
