Steps

The default WYSIWYG editor inserts an image from a gallery of the Page's attachments:

  1. Edit the Page the image belongs in, and click "Image" in the toolbar.

The toolbar of the WYSIWYG editor with its Image button highlighted

  2. The "Select Image" dialog opens on its "Gallery" tab, which lists the images attached to the Page. The "Tree", "Upload", "Icon" and "Url" tabs reach an image the gallery does not hold.

The Select Image dialog open on the Gallery tab, its tab row highlighted, over a gallery of four attached images

  3. Narrow the gallery by typing part of a file name in the search field, or switch the scope to "All Pages" to reach an image attached to another Page.

The Gallery tab with its search field and its Current Page and All Pages scope buttons highlighted

  4. Click the image you want, then click "Select", which stays disabled until an image is picked. Double-clicking an image, or pressing Enter on it, does both at once.

The Gallery tab with one image selected and the Select button, now enabled, highlighted

  5. The "Edit Image" dialog opens on the image you picked. Click "Insert".

The Edit Image dialog showing the picked image, with its Insert button highlighted

  6. The image is in the content of the Page.

FAQ

Why is an image I have just attached missing from the gallery?

The gallery searches the wiki's search index rather than the Page itself, so a freshly uploaded image appears once the index has caught up with the upload.
