search-pages

Version 1.3 by gabrielc on 2026/07/09 11:12

Explanation

Work with wiki content through your AI assistant using the MCP server's search, read, and edit tools.

Search for documents

  1. Ask the assistant to search the wiki. Use keywords, phrases, or natural language queries.
  2. Refine the search with filters: ask for documents by space, author, or modification date.
  3. The assistant reports results with titles, modification dates, and relevance snippets.

Read a document

  1. Ask the assistant to read a page by its title or reference. The assistant calls get_document.
  2. For short documents, the assistant gets the full raw source with line numbers.
  3. For long documents, the assistant gets a heading outline first, then reads the sections it needs.
  4. For script-driven or dashboard pages, ask for the rendered view: "show me the rendered version of that page" or "show the executed output".

Edit or create a document

If your administrator has enabled write tools:

  1. Ask the assistant to make a change: "add a paragraph about backups to the getting-started page".
  2. The assistant reads the page, prepares exact find-and-replace edits, and calls edit_document.
  3. For new pages, ask the assistant to create content: "create a new page in Sandbox called weekly-status for the team updates".
  4. Every AI change is stamped [AI] in the history and can be compared with previous versions of the page.

FAQ

An edit keeps failing with "re-read and retry"

The page was modified since the assistant last read it. Tell the assistant to read it again and try again. This is the conflict protection working as intended.

The assistant says it cannot write or create pages

Write tools are disabled by default. Ask your administrator to enable them in the wiki's MCP configuration.
